Network operators and service providers must attract and retain premium revenue customers, and develop profitable new business models. But budgets are tight: they're under pressure to improve ROI on existing network investments, and to prototype, develop, and launch new services as cheaply and quickly as possible. Most operators expect they will have to drastically increase their portfolio of services, from a handful now to hundreds or eventually thousands of content and application offerings. Although some of these new services will be developed in-house, the vast majority will be sourced from third-party service providers and partners. This creates a challenge in business and network integration and partner ecosystem management.
BEA WebLogic Network Gatekeeper enables network operators rise to this challenge. It facilitates third-party service provider access to carrier network infrastructure, in a controlled, secure, optimized, and automated fashion. This carrier-grade network infrastructure platform is based on IT and telecom industry standards, like Java EE, Web services, SIP, IMS and Parlay X Web services. BEA WebLogic Network Gatekeeper also helps to protect and manage third-party partner access to an operator's core network resources, such as messaging, call control, and user mobility.
Network operators worldwide have successfully deployed BEA WebLogic Network Gatekeeper in their SDPs to implement a unified, and integrated policy enforcement mechanism for all of their SDP services. And as operators evolve their SDPs into IP-based, next-generation SDPs to bridge legacy network services with new IMS-NGN services, BEA WebLogic Network Gatekeeper provides a future-proof architecture with integrated support for Java EE, Java Web Services, SIP, and IMS.
The latest release of BEA WebLogic Network Gatekeeper marks the debut of an entirely new Java EE-based architecture, implemented on the telecom industry's leading, carrier-grade Java EE application server, BEA WebLogic Server, and a more modular and standards based approach. BEA WebLogic Network Gatekeeper runs as a set of standard Java EE applications in the BEA WebLogic Server, leveraging that platform's well-known and highly scalable container and its extensive tooling support, WebLogic Server's robust clustering support provides BEA WebLogic Network Gatekeeper with reliable high-availabilty, failover, and load balancing functionality. |
